SAN FRANCISCO’S HISTORIC GHIRARDELLI SQUARE

SAN FRANCISCO (November 1, 2012) – Ghirardelli Chocolate Company and Save Me, San Francisco Chocolate announced today that Pat Monahan, frontman of Grammy-winning multiplatinum act Train and founder of Save Me, San Francisco Chocolate, will make an appearance at Ghirardelli Chocolate Marketplace located within San Francisco’s historic Ghirardelli Square on Thursday, November 15 from 3 – 4 p.m. Monahan will be signing bars of the recently released “Save Me, San Francisco” Premium Chocolate Bars, a partnership between Train and Ghirardelli Chocolate Company.
Train frontman Pat Monahan is a chocolate lover and longtime fan of Ghirardelli. After expressing his dream of a specialty chocolate with the acclaimed brand, Ghirardelli reached out to him and “Save Me, San Francisco Chocolate” was born, following in the footsteps of the band’s highly successful and award winning wine company “Save Me, San Francisco Wine Co”. 100% of Train’s proceeds from the first production of the chocolate will go to the local Family House charity, which assists families of seriously ill children with housing (familyhouse.org).
The “Save Me, San Francisco” Premium Chocolate Bars are available for purchase at savemesanfrancisco.com and ghirardelli.com, as well as at all Ghirardelli Chocolate & Ice Cream Shop retail locations nationwide. Bars will also be available at Ghirardelli Chocolate Marketplace and the original Soda Fountain & Chocolate Shop, both located in San Francisco’s Ghirardelli Square. ABOUT FAMILY HOUSE
Founded in 1981, Family House is a 501(c) (3) not-for-profit organization providing temporary housing to families of seriously ill children receiving treatment at the University of California San Francisco Benioff Children's Hospital. Qualifying families live more than 50 miles from UCSF, and many live at or below the low-income status as determined by UCSF. Our two locations sustain nearly a 100% occupancy rate and can accommodate 107 people per night. Over the course of a year we serve more than 2,000 families.
